City brings back Imperial Garden and new sushi bar

The Huntsville area gained two new Asian style restaurants this summer, giving students an opportunity to broaden their taste buds with international cuisine from the Asian continent.
Chinese restaurant Imperial Garden, located on I-45 in between El Chico and Whataburger, offers customers an array of Chinese specialties buffet style. Ordering from the menu is another option for patrons, with prices in the $6-$9 range.
Although Imperial Garden recently made its Grand Opening, the restaurant itself is not new. According to students, it closed down two years ago for renovations, and opened its doors for business again this year.
Some of Imperial Garden's specialties include Imperial Chicken for $7.95, General Tso's Chicken for $7.95 and Shrimp with Garlic Sauce served with water chestnuts and bell pepper for $8.95.
Appetizers include egg rolls, fried dumplings and crab puffs in the $2-$4 range, small and large bowls of specialty soups for $1-$3 and variety of mild or spicy combination seafood, chicken and beef meals.
Imperial Garden's lunch buffet is $5.75 for adults and $4.50 for children (drinks not included).
The Huntsville area also gained a new Japanese Grill and Sushi Bar. Tokyo is a dine-in take-out restaurant located on Sam Houston Ave. across from the Chevron next to Bowers Boulevard.
Tokyo offers a full Japanese grill, serving everything from seafood to t-bone steaks and vegetables with prices in the $9-$12 range. Tokyo also has one of Huntsville's first sushi bars.
During Tokyo's Lunch grill, a California Roll and five kinds of sushi can be purchased for $7.50. Another option is a California Roll and seven kinds of sushi for $9.00.
Tokyo also offers soups in the $1-$4 range and appetizers in the $2-$6 range.
"[Tokyo has] the best sushi! Comparable to Houston's finest," said Kelley Barber, one of Tokyo's patrons.
